Living Streets - Berlin

My own artistic practice

In Living Streets Berlin, the city tells its stories in the quiet, almost invisible moments, that go unnoticed on its streets, like incidental notes: a burst balloon, a forgotten piece of sausage, an oil slick shimmering in the light. These inconspicuous traces begin to speak when you simply pause and take notice of them.

Living Streets discovers everyday remnants, brings them out of hiding, and breathes new life into them – somewhere between fleeting scenes and a playful wink at reality. What is often overlooked in the hustle and bustle of everyday life unfolds here in a chain reaction of unbridled associations: The crumpled balloon transforms into the bushy tail of a squirrel scurrying through the streets as if it had landed from Mars. The sausage becomes the nose of a mischievous stick figure who has definitely seen more than it ever wanted to. The oil slick turns into the noble snout of a unicorn, calmly lingering in the road dust as the traffic rushes past. And amidst the hectic pace of rush hour, scattered pals enjoy their self-deprecating lunch break.

The concept of Living Streets thrives on chance and the joy of staging the unnoticed. It celebrates unbound thinking that sees the potential for a story in the smallest moments – a gaze that filters nothing but takes everything in, reassembling it in a wonderfully bizarre way. From this whirlwind of perception, new worlds emerge, shifting the ordinary into new perspectives and turning the ground into a playground for all those who not only pass by, but capture the unnoticed with a smile.
